Legal Disclaimer
The Isle of Wight Hash House Harriers (IWH3) is a loosely organized group of individuals who engage in Hashing, which often involves running or walking across various terrains. Participants in our events acknowledge that Hashing carries inherent risks, which may include injuries, loss, or other damages and death.
Non-Liability
IWH3 is an informal, non-incorporated association that operates on a not-for-profit basis. Participation in any IWH3 event is entirely voluntary, and members and guests assume all risks associated with the activities. IWH3 does not provide insurance coverage for participants or third parties.
Duty of Care
While IWH3 Committee Members and all participants are mindful of the safety and well-being of fellow Hashers, IWH3 does not accept any liability or responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during any of its events. Dog owners must control their pets at all times.
Any injury or damage caused by a dog is the sole responsibility of the dog owner.
Conduct Guidelines
Participants are expected to act within their physical limits, to drink responsibly, and to look out for one another. Harassment, drug use, and other illegal or inappropriate behaviours are strictly prohibited. Participants should also understand that hashing humour can be rough but should avoid causing distress to others.
Acknowledgment of Risk
By participating in any IWH3 event, individuals agree to this waiver, understanding that they are solely responsible for their own safety and actions. IWH3 does not accept liability for any injuries, accidents, death or damages incurred during or after any events. Participants expressly waive their right to pursue any legal claims against IWH3, its organizers, members, or affiliated parties.
Conclusion
If you attend an IWH3 event, you agree to these terms and undertake not to hold the organizers, any affiliated individuals, or the property owners responsible for any injuries, loss or mishaps. If you are unwilling to accept these terms, please do not participate. Again you agree not to hold us liable.
As a participant, you agree to the following:
Know Your Limits: Don’t push beyond your physical capabilities on the trail, whether running or navigating challenging terrain.
Drink Responsibly: Keep your alcohol consumption within your limits to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
Look Out for Fellow Hashers: If you notice someone struggling on the trail or becoming overly intoxicated, help them out or inform someone who can assist. If someone is being harassed or appears uncomfortable, step in or notify others.
Avoid Altercations: Be friendly
Respect Boundaries: Do not engage in sexual harassment. If someone expresses discomfort with your behaviour, stop immediately. Also, be vigilant about others’ well-being.
Be Mindful with Humour: While our humour may be blunt, irreverent and not politically correct, it’s important to recognize when it crosses the line for someone and to ease up accordingly.
